Saw Ally today, was worried she might cry when I had to confess to home bleaching my hair. She did an amazing colour and cut and you'd never know how much damage I'd done. Looks fab and would highly recommend.
After several bad experiences over the years I was nervous about trying another hairdressers. I decided to give Rumours a try after a recommendation from a family member and I was not disappointed. My stylist Ally really took the time to listen to what I wanted and seemed to understand what style I was going for. Ally was chatty and friendly and I absolutely love my new style and Im already excited to go back. Thank you!!
I went in at end of May hoping to have a simple root touch up before our engagement party and it went horribly wrong.1st visit: Bleach not left in long enough + toner patchy. My roots had only very slightly been lifted and the toner only took in parts so was left with yellow/silver/white patches. I asked for a minimal trim however I had inches taken off. I returned later in tears to show them and was booked to come back in the next day.*1st picture was taken after 1st visit, with underdeveloped roots. My hair was still in pretty good cond as only the roots had been touched at this point.2nd visit: Bleach left in too long / over processed, making roots lighter than the rest of hair. I was also left with a band where hed overlapped past the root line. Various toners used and he even resorted to a bleach bath (RIP hair) + another toner to try to fix colour. I left mortified, worried my hair would fall out and one very sensitive scalp - not surprising considering I was given two lots of bleach in two days as well as bleach bath.I was invited back by the owner a 3rd time to see the head of colour, Ally, to try to fix it. By this point my anxiety was through the roof however she was lovely, comforting and did everything she could in attempt to sort it. She seemed knowledgeable and was genuinely shocked at what had been done. She decided it best to do a head of dark+ashy blonde highlights to even out/hide the colour. It was much better than it was and was a colour I could go out in public, although it was much ashier/darker than I expected but I didnt see much point in contacting anymore. Sadly a lot of damage had been done previous to Ally fixing it. Before Rumours, I had been so happy with my hairs condition etc. It was the longest its been in years, after years of growing it, in hope that I could have all my own hair for my wedding next year. It was in good condition, strong, minimal breakage & was quite thick due to it being naturally curly. It was one length and half way down my back - see photo (with flowers) showing length/cut/condition of hair taken 4-5 months prior. Now you would never believe it was the same hair.Nearly 6 months on, my hair is in terrible condition; extremely weak, thin, constantly breaking off to the point that I have now lost a good quarter of my hair and I dont have much of a pony tail. A lot has broken off along the top/sides/underneath of my head. (See photos)I havent had my hair done since visiting in fear more will fall out however its now so bad that Im most likely going to have to have a lot of the damage cut off (at a different salon) to even out the length + I assume need to stop colouring until I can grow the damage out / start again. I grew it long/coloured it for a reason - I dont like my natural colour nor do I suit short hair so this has knocked my confidence! Im such an anxious person and normally avoid confrontation however for a company priding themselves as being a professional hair salon, this is unacceptable.My hopes of having natural long wedding curls are shattered. I cant afford hundreds of of extensions (which without their mistake I wouldnt have needed) and we have subsequently postponed our date. Devastated is an understatement + a massive kick in the teeth paying in excess of 70 to have my hair ruined. Although I understand attempts were made to rectify, I was never reimbursed, despite being told by the owner that he was more than happy to offer a refund on the original service AND correct it free of charge.I still feel angry & embarrassed, mostly upset about the state of my hair & wedding predicament. I have generously given 1 star only due to Ally being so lovely - thank you!If you are booking for the 1st time without previously going here then please just be wary. I suppose that goes for first visit to any salon - especially if youre a bride to be!! Hopefully Rumours can learn from this however Im devastated I was the one who paid the price for their mistake. I obviously will not be back and do not recommend.
